Whiskey has long been a popular drink for the rich and wealthy. Having their favorite brands always perched in their offices with a few crystal glasses and a beautiful decanter, the whiskey lovers never say no to trying new whiskey. These whiskey packaging design that I have featured below isn’t really so much about the taste, but the decorations that surround the lavish drink.
I have set out out the inspiration for you to have a look at quality drink labeling and to find some motivation and inspiration to perhaps design your own. There isn’t much I can say in this case except have a look below.
Moira Dolina WhiskeySource
Moira Dolina was created on a very simple premise: that a sustainable, organic product is the finest product. Sustainability and exceptional quality are seen as traits that go hand in hand, and striving for both at once is the future of high-end whiskeys.
Ealanta is the fourth annual release in Glenmorangie Private Edition range. Scots Gaelic for ‘skilled and ingenious’, Ealanta is a 19 Years Old Glenmorangie, fully matured in virgin American white oak casks with a provenance that stretches all the way to the mountains of Missouri and the Mark Twain National Forest.
SKÓGAR – Icelandic WhiskeySource
In the spring of 2010 I went on a whisky tasting journey to the west coast of Scotland to an island called Islay. There I experienced first hand what it took to make good whisky. I also realized that the environmental factors in Islay were quite similar to those in Island; so I thought “why not make whiskey in Iceland?” And thusly the idea of an Icelandic made whiskey was born. In 2011 I started writing a business report on the subject and finally in early 2012, as part of my final project at IAA, I started the branding process.
Create packaging for a 21st Century Scotch whisky brand that challenges category convention and rituals and appeals to an international female consumer.
Maple Creek WhiskeySource
Maple Creek Maple Rye Whisky is a whisky that is fully Canadian made – manufactured and distilled in the city of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. What makes Maple Creek a unique product is the distinct maple flavour blended into the rye, giving it a truly Canadian taste.
The design is based on the Hydrabad ship, which on its way from Lyttelton to Adelaide was driven ashore on June 24, 1878 at Waitarere Beach, New Zealand. The ship remains still to this day on the shore of Waitarere beach and is now a landmark for this small town. This style of the design is based around this time era, and is distilled and bottled in Waitarere beach.
Elixer Scotch WhiskySource
Elixer is a 15 year old whisky blend sourced from independent Scottish distilleries.
It aims to draw in a new female and male audience and entice them to try whisky in new ways. It is designed to stand out from conventional whisky packaging and branding on the shelf and promote a curiosity about its contents. The bottle is ceramic with a matte black glaze and has a stopper lid. It is accompanied by a booklet of cocktail ideas designed by the Elixer master blender.
Peak Scotch WhiskySource
A 21st Century Scotch Whisky that maintains its freshness due to it’s unique size. The compact nature of the bottles ensures that it can be kept out of the way whilst still acting as decorative piece due to the connections between the bottles. The perfect drink for those who like their drink to always be at it’s best.
Bendmore Four casksSource
BenMore Four Casks Scotch Whiskey is the newest whisky that is produced and distilled in Scotland. It is matured in four different types of oak casks to achieve depth and complexity to match the standard of whiskey drinkers, to give the harmony between mellow tastes and scotch aroma, including malt and peat aroma with the hint of smokiness and most importantly, to give you an even smoother Scotch whiskey experience.
Lady Luck Scotch WhiskySource
Here’s my design for the package design brief in D&AD 2012. Design a new packaging for Scotch blended whisky that challenges the traditional, masculine graphic style and takes aim at girls as main target group. You buy the box, the hip flask and as many refills you feel is nescessary and you’re good to go out and rock this beautiful world of ours!
Paying homage to the adventurers of the 1930s film serials, LEGACY embodies that sense of exploration and bravery so boldly displayed by its heroes. Taken from the time where men had true grit, the packaging was designed to resemble the look of hidden treasure that only gains value with age. The brand’s logo features an elephant gun that represents adventure while the telescope represents exploration. The use of strong materials and textures gives the owner a complete experience that highlights the fine taste of its whisky. LEGACY is unique with the feel of its leather, burlap, and metal accompanying the smell of wood and burnt label edges. Cask strength whisky is the strongest type of scotch and must be further distilled before drinking, and it is with that pure, bold taste the brand was created. From the high peaks of mountains to the vast oceans of water, LEGACY salutes those who venture beyond the civilized and into the wild searching for the next great journey.
