I’m lazy when it comes to promoting my articles and blog posts. I guess it boils down to how much work you want to do to promote your articles and whether you can outsource some of the steps. Otherwise, it is quite time-consuming writing content as well as doing promotional work at the same time.

I use Twitter for my articles, blog posts and now Squidoo lenses. I find that it only helps to bring traffic if you get the right kind of followers though. Most of the time, Twitter followers are also internet marketers themselves so topics on other areas outside of IM don’t really translate to higher traffic from my experience.

Submitting to top news sites seems to get lost among the possible ways to promote, but can be the easiest things to do! People won’t know of your expertise unless YOU take action to put it in front of them. =)

I agree with Kathy, a lot of this business is about who you know not what you know. You can write great content but if it’s not getting out there it’s pointless. You need some friends to help you get some links.
A lot of bloggers are being misled by the big blogging gurus who tell them to just post good content and people will come. In my experience they won’t, you need a little more.
