I'm really impressed by this post !!

I'm working with two guys on a future e-business and in fact I totally agree with that.

Your analysis is terrific about the 3 profiles. In my case I'm the manager and 2 other guys really looks entrepreneur and technician. They succeed to improve our business by their abilities. Without one piece of these 3 profile we feels different and we feel that the business don't go in the right path !!

Thanks again for this very good analysis !!

Dear Byurick

Thank you for participating.

Almost right, train technical staff and managers to handle the customers the way that you want it done. That means your clients will be happy, without you as Boss, CEO having to keep them happy. You can then go to work ON your business, and not IN your business.

It depends on the type of business of course. As an architect I set up systems in my office where the outcome of the system (in this case the technical drawings) is always the same. Set of rules and guidelines to be followed. That allows me to only do the design, creative work, and leave the rest up to my staff, knowing that it will get done the way that I would have done it myself.

The E-Myth revisited might be a good start for you.

Best Regards
Jurie

So what's the answer? Hire someone to actually run the business part while I take care of the customers and technical duties?

I think most businesses fail because they haven't planned well. I think you need set objectives, and be passionate about your business.
