Creating a Free Website with IM-Creator Step by Step

The internet is filled with url’s that request IP addresses to gain access to servers that host websites. If you don’t have a website, you are living in the past some might say, but evidently it isn’t an easy task to create a website. There are a lot of different tools available on the net that help you setup a website, but not a lot of them are up to standard. Luckily IM-Creator has stepped up to the plate.

IM-Creator is a new way to create a website: it’s as easy as choosing a design, inserting your content and publishing it to the world – all in one simple, clear and seamless process. This not only cuts those expensive design fees that some graphic design agencies charge, but helps you stay in control of your entire website. I will be walking you through some services offered by the IM-Creator team so that you too can be brought up to date on how exactly to create a website.

Obviously this is the first thing you see when you get to the IM-Creator website, but definitely not the last thing either. From here on getting started with your own website is a breeze.

Step 1 – Starting the process of Creating your website

See that big blue button that reads, “Start Now?” Click it! You will be reverted to the first step in the IM-Creator Website Builder Application where you have to choose your starting method. It gives you the option of choosing a template from the large collection, starting from scratch or editing & publishing one of your previous creations.

Step 2 – Choosing your Template

In this particular setup we will be making use of the template library available to us to choose our base starting point for our website. As you can see there are a wide variety of categories available with ample amount of templates in each. I made use of the Bio/Resume category and chose the john_bw_bio by templatesmaster template. I hit the edit button and was redirected to the editing screen in the application as seen below.

Step 3 – Editing your chosen Template

As you can see there are quite a few tools given to you to successfully edit your template to your liking. I have gone ahead and changed a few elements in my template to represent me. To justify the actual easy editing capabilities of the website building application. You can see the changes I have added below. I only edited my landing page of the template, but you are obviously free to edit your site as you please using the tools available to you. You can add and remove pages with a click of a button, making it possible for you to expand your site without loads of work.

Make sure that you go through all the settings in setting up your website from the background color to the SEO, web analytics and favicon settings too. Once you are ready to view your edited site, hit the preview button at the top.

Step 4 – Getting your site published

Now that you are ready to get your site published go to the settings page and choose the domain tab. Enter the name of your site that you would like and then a registration box will pop up that looks like this below.

Now once you have signed up and entered your credentials a subscription box will popup giving you the option of buying a domain and hosting for your website with IM-Creator. There is a method to get past this though. Look at the top offer that says you can get a free url and hosting if you like them on Facebook. Choose that option.

Your url will be revealed once you have liked IM-Creator on Facebook. Here is my example url below for this post.

Now hit the exit button on the url box and you will be back in the editing application. At the top right corner there is a big Publish button. Click it and the url box will appear once again offering you the addition domain and hosting, that is only needed if you want to secure a custom domain such as www.creativeoverflowexample.com. You can now click on your website url and you will be redirected to your newly built website.

Step 5 – Complete Website on Display

Now you have a live site that is ready to be displayed to the world. You can view my live site here. I will leave it up as long possible.
